Who Is Jacinda Ardern's Husband? New Details Clarke Gayford — Who's Her Partner Not Her Husband
She's the prime minister of New Zealand.
The recent shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand during Friday Prayer on March 15th that left at least 50 dead and 50 injured has put the spotlight on New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern. The attacks began at the Al Noor Mosque at 1:40pm and continued at the Islamic Center at 1:55pm. It was the deadliest attack in the history of the country. In light of the semi-automatic weapons used in these (and many other) attacks, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern immediately banned military assault style weapons in New Zealand. She skipped right over all those "thoughts and prayers" and took action to ensure her countrymen and women would live in a safer environment. Jacinda Ardern is married with one child. Who is Jacinda Ardern's husband?
1. He is not actually her husband
Clarke Gayford is a 41-year-old New Zealand radio and television host. He most recently was the host of Fish of the Day, a fishing documentary show. He is not married to Jacinda Ardern. They are domestic partners who have been dating since 2013. He is frequently referred to as the spouse of the Prime Minister even though the couple is unmarried. He accompanies Ardern on international visits. In June 2018, the couple's first child, a baby girl, was born.
2. He applauded his wife's gun ban
Clarke Gayford shared a photo of his and Jacinda's nine-month-old daughter Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford, with a heartfelt tribute to his partner's swift actions to change the country's gun laws in the aftermath of the massacres last week. He took to his Twitter account to post the photo of Neve with the comment: "For her 9 month birthday today we received the gift of crawling. While her mum got her the gift of having a safer country to grow up in." We have ALL the feels.
3. He is a stay-at-home dad
Jacinda and Clarke have a very modern romance. Gayford put his work as a radio and TV host on hold to look after his daughter while her mom is busy kicking major butt as Prime Minister of New Zealand. Gayford told Australian Women's Weekly, "We weighed it up and we decided that her job was possibly slightly more important. It was always on the cards to work out that way. I've always been completely supportive of Jacinda and I believe in what she's trying to achieve for New Zealand. So, it was easy for me to make that call. There are plenty of males out there that do that."
4. A Great Dad
Jacinda Adern can rest easy knowing that Neve is well cared for while she runs the country. She told Women's Day that her partner is "a great dad." She also said: "He's exactly as I expected him to be, completely doting, very dedicated, really patient. I feel they've got in-jokes already, I don't even know how that's possible, but they do. And he of course will dress Neve, so there are a lot of 'I heart Dad' socks and shirts."
