Hall is also an advocate against domestic violence, citing the murder of her sister, Renate, in 2004 as her inspiration to host Deadline: Crime. Renate was found in dead in her pool, with Hall saying there were signs of domestic violence, partially blaming herself for her sister’s passing as she did not do anything to intervene.

3. She told Steve Harvey she had a boyfriend.

In February 2017, she told Steve Harvey that she had a boyfriend who worked in the entertainment industry. “Whenever I see Steve, he says something about my clothes, and then you ask me, ‘When are you going to get married?’” she joked.

“The only person who’s told me more is my mom. You and my mom, I know when I see my mom and I see Steve, I have to start rehearsing. I start going through magazines and cutting out pictures of men. ‘This is my new boyfriend. This is him.’ I’m prepared for you this time. Well, not that kind of prepared. I’m not getting married.”

She then admitted, “I have a boyfriend now. Now you have mixed feelings because you didn’t pick him, you haven’t approved of him.”

Hall also opened up about how difficult it is to date while being famous, as well as the death of her sister: “It hasn’t shaped my life, but it’s given me courage I didn’t know I had. I’ve been engaged a couple times. Thank God no one was abusive, but [my sister’s situation] makes me cautious.”

4. Hall always wanted kids.

In 2016, she opened up on Today about how she wanted to have kids in her 20s, and talked about people who choose to be parents.

She also wrote on her blog, “The question is, are you more of an adult, more of a woman, if you have a child? I believe, as a person who wants a child someday, I am no less able to want the best for children and the best for this world. Not to diminish the spectacular and beautiful journey of parenthood, but don’t make me feel I am half an adult if I don’t have a child. Caring has nothing to do with being a parent. I care because I’m a human being.”

5. Hall made a post teasing her announcement.
