Why Did Brie Larson And Alex Greenwald End Their Engagement?
They seemed to be so happy.
Instagram Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, 29, and fiancé, lead singer of the band Phantom Planet, Alex Greenwald 39, have broken up and ended their engagement after two years.
“They have taken a step back from their engagement for the time being but they remain close," a close source from the pair told People.
The couple got engaged in May of 2016 after dating for over five years. They had always been very private about their relationship and never told the media what wedding plans they had. The couple also kept their relationship off of social media for the most part. Both Larson and Greenwald still have the very few pictures of each other up on their Instagrams.
E! News reported that it was Greenwald who officially ended the relationship, stating that “the director and musician recently called off their engagement."
Both have been very quiet on their social media’s and have not released a statement as of yet. One of Larson’s most recent Instagram posts to her 1.7 million followers was about her acceptance of the Trailblazer Award from the LA Online Film Critics Society. In the post, she thanked them and begged future nominees to be sure to “attend the show” because of how much fun she had.
Her new movie “Captain Marvel” is set to premiere in March of this year, while Greenwald may be busy working on new music. On Jan. 2nd Greenwald posted to Instagram a photo of a microphone in a recording booth with the caption that read “secret project” and on Jan. 13, he posted another photo to Instagram that was captioned “another secret project."
The two may have split due to their busy schedules, as many Hollywood couples have before them.
Their final red carpet together was at the “Infinity War” movie premiere in April 2018 which Greenwald still has a photo of the pair walking the red carpet together on his Instagram. Larson has only one photo of the “Avengers Infinity War” premiere red carpet where she is seen smiling by herself at the camera.
