Kat's pregnant! Meet the dad.
Who is Kat Von D's husband and baby daddy? Tattoo artist and makeup maven Kat Von D is pregnant with her first child with husband Leafar Seyer AKA Rafael Reyas. The couple announced their pregnancy on Instagram yesterday with a beautiful bump shoot. Kat was ecstatic to announce she's having a baby boy and the photo she posted on Instagram shows her growing baby bump.
Her husband commeted on the post saying, "When I thought I had it all. Life gifts me with the greatest of joys! We are pregnant and having a baby boy,” he wrote in the caption. “I love you @thekatvond and I'm ready to be a father to our son Leafar. Thank you my love our family comes first!!!”
In 2012, Kat commented about not wanting children. "The funny thing is that I’ve known since I was 7 years old that I was never going to have kids,” she said. “I always imagined myself as this worldly, traveling, gypsy lady. I love children, kids love me, but I think I’d make a really good buddy,” she added. “I don’t know if I’d be a bad mom, but it’s not what I want. I don’t want to put my body through it.”
Well — looks like the tattoo queen has found love and changed her views on starting a family.
But who is her husband baby daddy Leafar Seyer? Here's some fun facts to know about him.
1. His real name is Rafael Reyes.
He got his stage name Leafar Seyer from his actual name; it's Rafael Reyes spelled backward. Along with the announcement about their bundle of joy the couple also announced that they had chosen Leafar as the name for their son.
2. Seyer and Kat secretly wed back in February.
The couple surprised everyone with the announcement they had tied the knot in an Instagram post announcement on February 21. "Today, I married my soul’s mate, my mind’s twin, my best friend: @prayers Juntos en Vida y en Muerte,” Von D wrote on Instagram.
Seyer also shared the same photo on his account writing, “Today I married the girl of my dreams [En Vida Y En Muerte].” Seyer proposed to Kat by having an aerial banner spell out "I love you, Kat Von D." when he popped the big question.
3. He is a part of electronic music group, Prayers.
Prayers is an electronic music duo founded back in 2013 with Seyer and partner-producer Dave Parley. "I’m the poet behind Prayers,” he told Noisey. “I’m also the visionary muse whose story is being told, with the selfless support of Dave Parley.” Their songs include, “From Dog to God” and “Gothic Summer. I’m the first of my kind, so I gotta represent hella hard for those who are coming up and wanna be part of this new culture. We live in different times now. Everything’s a hybrid. I’m a f***ing hybrid.”
4. He tattooed Kat's name on his face for her birthday.
On his new wife's birthday, March 8 he posted to Instagram to show off his grand gesture. "Feliz cumpleaños mi amor,” he wrote,“I love you kitty! En vida y en muerte shout out my brother @amerthegamer_smt for tattooing my beautiful wife’s name on my face!!!”
5. He was once a gang member.
As a young kid Seyer was smuggled into the United States and granted amnesty under the Reagan administration. He joined a gang a few years later to help try and support his family. He was arrested and spent some time behind bars before turning his life around and using his inspiration from his criminal days for his music. He wrote Living Dangerously about his life.
6. He's also an artist.
Seyer isn't just a musician; he's also a talented artist. “I create these paintings and I make this music to protect me from those who wish me harm,” he said. He premiered his first art show The Pain Isn't Over in Los Angeles. He gained inspiration from the years he was an active gang member and graffiti artist.
"It’s refreshing to be able to showcase something that was my first love," he said. "I was doing art before I was doing music. I feel that I am living multiple realities simultaneously. What I mean by that is that I have different facets to me: I have different personalities, I have different energies, I have different spirits that live within me. And they need to express themselves, they need to come out, they need to be acknowledged."
7. He's also a foodie.
Seyer opened up the very first Mexican vegan restaurant in the country with his father in San Diego. The eatery, which is named Pokez, was an overnight success and after helping to run it for years after his father's death, he sold the eatery to his younger brother.
