10 Details About Harvey Weinstein's Wife Georgina Chapman And Their 'Sexless' Marriage
Sources find it hard to believe she wasn't aware of her husband's inappropriate sexual behavior
It's hard not to wonder who exactly was married to Harvey Weinstein and if his wife knew about Hollywood's "open secret".
In the wake of the overwhelming amount of allegations of sexual harassment and assault surrounding Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein, its no surprise that his wife of 10 years, Georgina Chapman, is leaving him.
The 41-year-old designer and co-founder of Marchesa released the following statement Oct. 10:
"My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
The next day, Weinstein released the following statement about their split:
“Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for. I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family. We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart."
"In the end, she made the decision to separate. I understand, I love her and I love our children and hopefully, when I am better, I will be in their lives again. I support her decision, I am in counseling and perhaps, when I am better, we can rebuild.”
The couple married in 2007 and have two children together, 7-year-old India and 4-year-old Dashiell. Though Chapman announced a split with her husband, Weinstein said in an interview with the New York Post on Thursday that his wife is standing "100%" behind him and is helping him become a "better person."
"Georgina and I have talked about this at length," he said. "We went out with Lisa Bloom last night when we knew the article was coming out."
"Georgina will be with Lisa and others kicking my ass to be a better human being and to apologize to people for my bad behavior, to say I’m sorry, and to absolutely mean it.”
Since announcing her split from Weinstein, Chapman's history with the Hollywood sexual predator has come under microscopic view. Here's what we know about her:
