For all of you holding on to your 29th birthday like it’s a life raft, now you have a reason to celebrate your thirties. I guess they call it the dirty thirty for a reason, right?

According to a study done by Natural Cycles, the world’s only certified contraception app, this is precisely the age when women have great sex and even greater orgasms.

The study surveyed more than 2,600 women using the McCoy Female Sexuality Questionnaire method. Through this test, a few things were measured. They included:

  • Satisfaction (with partner and frequency of intercourse)
  • Attraction (self-perception and how their partner views them)
  • Orgasm (enjoyment and frequency)

After the survey was conducted, its results showed patterns in three different age groups:

  • Younger (Below 23)
  • Middle (23-36)
  • Older (36 and over)

And, according to the results, most enjoyable sex, attractiveness, and orgasm get better with age, with the peak being age 36. They also related their results to top celebrity women who are considered to be in their sexual prime. This includes:

  1. Kate Moss
  2. Victoria Beckham
  3. Kelly Brook
  4. Elizabeth Hurley
  5. Holly Willoughby
  6. Kate Beckinsale
  7. Kate Winslet
  8. Nigella Lawson
  9. Helen Mirren
  10. Carol Vorderman

When considering sexual attractiveness, it was the older group that were most comfortable with themselves. Their scores were 10 percent higher than the average of the middle age group which scored the lowest.

Those in the youngest group felt attractive, coming in second to the older bunch. While this young group felt attractive and sexy, they were the lowest when it came to frequency and enjoyment of orgasms.

It was the older group, 58 percent of them, that said they enjoyed frequent orgasms. This result is 10 percent more than the youngest group and 5 percent more than the middle group.

The older group of women also said that they were having the most enjoyable sex, with 86 percent of them saying that their sex over the past few weeks was enjoyable while only 75 percent in the middle group said the same.

When asked about their ideal length of sex, 31 percent of women thought that it should last longer than what they currently experienced, while 12 percent said it should be shorter.

When asked about the frequency of sex, less than one-third said they have it twice a week, more than one-fifth said three times per week, and less than one-fifth had sex once per week.

Also, a majority of women said that monogamy is what led them to have better sex lives. It was 81 percent of them who said that they could have long-lasting and great sex with the same person.

Amanda Bonnier, brand manager at Natural Cycles, said, “The results of the survey send out a really positive message about something us women have known and expected for some time: as you get older and get to know your body better, you can have a more enjoyable sex life and feel confident about yourself, particularly if you’re in a monogamous relationship. It’s encouraging that there doesn’t appear to be a stigma attached to being older and enjoying the best sex of your life.”

I don’t know about you, but this study makes me feel a whole lot better about being on the wrong end of my thirties. Let’s see what happens when I turn 36.
