It's not just for guys!
By Ariel Hart
Guys are fascinated that I used to be a smut scribe. Oh, I look innocent enough — no blonde Silicone Sister here — but maybe that’s part of the charm.
More than once, men have asked me up-front questions about the adult industry — whom I’ve met, what they’re like, what it’s like to be on a porn set. Each and every time, they’ve been shut down by their girlfriends/wives who are pissed that they’re even talking about porn.
I’m here to say to the heterosexual ladies that might be scared. . . there are five reasons you don’t have to fear porn:
1. Porn isn’t just for guys.
That’s right, there’s erotica made with chicks in mind. Check out any of Candida Royalle’s Femme Productions offerings. They’re directed by women, the guys are super hot and there are real production values. Tell your man you’ll watch a dirty movie with him as long as he lets you pick it.
Do your homework. Find a great classic like The Opening of Misty Beethoven or A Scent of Heather. You’re welcome!
2. Everyone looks.
Admit it, you’re just a teeny bit curious. What do other people look like naked? How do your lady bits stack up to porn princesses? How does your guy’s junk compare to professional studs? Avoid sexvids with over-the-top carnal cupcakes. Find some with good storylines. They’re out there . . . trust me. I used to write them. A few faves on my adult résumé are Best Friends, New Lovers and Anonymous.
3. You get to see what makes your partner tick.
Let your partner pick the porn and you have a front seat to what rocks their world. Sure, most guys loooove BJ scenes, but you might be pleasantly surprised by what floats his boat. It could be innocent white cotton panties or girl-girl action.
And vice-versa. When you watch erotica side by side, your man’s privy to what makes you melt.
4. Talk, talk, talk.
Don’t just sit there! Talk about what you see onscreen. What do you like? What don’t you like? Is that chick’s orgasm real? Do you want to take a corset for a test drive? Does he? How does he feel about vibrators? How do you feel about vibrators? Seeing a scene played out for your viewing pleasure can be cathartic. Start by talking about what’s going on, then…
5. Do it!
Take turns reenacting your favorite scene, maybe even while you watch it on your laptop. In bed. At your desk. In the living room. In the kitchen.
Be creative. Have fun. A porn performer’s job is to turn people on. Don’t be shy, give it a try!
