Derek Jeter And Minka Kelly Engaged?

He plays for baseball's version of the New York Yankees of baseball, the New York Yankees. She stars on the Texas high school football of Texas high school football shows (Friday Night Lights). And per Lime Life (via the New York Post's Page Six), Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly may be engaged to be married (to each other).
The Yankees captain and shortstop, Jeter, has been dating the cheerleader-c*m-Christian-c*m-bad boy's girlfriend, Kelly, since 2008 and allegedly told friends to "save the date" for sometime in the fall (likely November or so as the surging Yankees are almost sure to be playing ball in October). Her reps claim that there is no engagement, engagement ring or officially planned wedding on the horizon (they always forget to add "to our knowledge," because it's implied).
As you may or may not know, Derek Jeter is sort of the Joe DiMaggio of his generation in terms of his off field exploits. While the Yankee Clipper (DiMaggio's handle) was in the Army in WWII*, an early endorsement and pop culture icon, spend countless hours doing charity and married Marilyn Monroe, Mr. November (as some baseball fans call Jeter) has starred in numerous advertisements, done some good stuff for the kids and has dated Mariah Carey, Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Biel and Jordana Brewster. Not to call anyone out but we were a little bit surprised when these two began dating until we realized that Minka Kelly was only playing high schooler Lyla Garrity. In actuality, she's an actress and is 29 years old. Jetes (as the kids call him) is only 35. Pretty standard, really.
In the pat handful of years, a rivalry has developed between Jeter and teammate Alex Rodriguez (the kids call him A-Rod). Rumor has it that some of this animosity has spilt onto their respective lovers and now Kate Hudson and Minka Kelly may be frienemies or worse. Someone should really consider making a movie out of this. Kate Hudson could star, they would probably figure out a way to get Megan Fox or Katherine Heigl in there as Jeter (played by Adrian Grenier).
*Let's none of forget that Ted Williams, the Splendid Splinter, was a fighter pilot in WWII and the Korean War.
