Playing the field gets a bad rap. Well, unless you're a guy. Guys who date multiple people at once are considered either womanizers and players or Casanovas. Women who do the same thing are usually called sl*ts. But the sexist double standard isn't the only problem with shaming a person for dating around. Playing the field just might be the best way to find true love.

 

Dating coach and YourTango Expert Ronnie Ann Ryan encourages her clients not to commit to one person too soon. "Dating and being in a relationship are not the same thing," she says in this insightful HuffPost Live video. "You're not in multiple relationships. You just getting to know different people to decide if you want to invest more time in them."

It's not cynical to try shop around for love. If anything, it's a tactic to try when you're more serious about finding the right person. They say, "Don't hate the player, hate the game." Watch the video above to find out why you shouldn't hate the game either.
