Becky Richardson is a Certified Life Coach with a passion for teaching teen girls that they matter, they are lovable, they are magical and that they make a difference in the lives of those with whom they connect. Becky is also passionate about assisting parents of teen girls as they navigate the adolescent challenges of self-image, peer pressure, academics and BOYS! Becky helps teen girls and their parents create a nurturing, supportive and loving dynamic with one another at a time when communication and hormones typically collide.
Becky is the mother of two: a daughter 14 and a son 12, whom she home-schooled 3 days a week for the past 3 years. A hands-on mother, Becky has created relationships with her children that are open, loving and fun! She sees parent-chlld relationships (and all relationships) as platforms for learning, personal growth and spiritual understanding and maturity. Firmly believing that children thrive when teaching styles match their learning styles and when surrounded by like-minded peers, Becky relentlessly searched and happily found independent schools that support her childrens' individual academic and social needs this year.
Becky's fascination with human behavior motivated her to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University Fresno. She completed her life coach training and certification through Martha Beck Inc. in the Fall of 2007. Becky is also a self-help book junkie and food creative. Becky Richardson is excited to join YourTango.com this year and looks forward to helping teens and parents navigate the ups-and-downs of adolescence through her writing, sharing her personal experiences and through her coaching services.
The Reason I Became A Helping Professional
I am delighted by people. Yet I watch people carry pain and suffering around with them, sometimes through their entire lives, that really isn't necessary. What I know is that we have the power to create our experience of life in any way that we choose. We aren't taught that when we are young. We are taught to follow the rules, do what others tell us to do, to not upset the apple cart, to think of others before ourselves. The truth is that when you put yourself and your dreams first, your happiness spills over onto everyone you touch. And you show others by example that life can be a fun, blissful adventure!
I wish someone would have told me that when I was fourteen! It could have spared me much pain, anxiety, and depression. I want to be that person for young ladies today. My mission is to teach, inspire and to cheer on the next generation of women so that they will live their best life imaginable.
With Love.
