Use your words as a form of therapy.
A personal memoir can be fun, therapeutic, and a valued treasure for your family and friends.

We all have varied perceptions of what fun is and the types of memories most treasured. Everyone remembers occasions a little bit differently, so your perspective about momentous life events is important and ought to be recorded. Can Journaling Improve Your Health?

Take some time to write a memoir about valued highlights of your life and most cherished memories. It can be wonderfully therapeutic and fun to share with your family and friends as they all learn more about who you truly are and what you've accomplished. You can create a journal-style chronicle or a scrapbook with photos, captions, and memorabilia—all good for future reminiscing.

Think about each era of your life; where you were living, who you were with and how you felt about what was going on. As you recall your personal timeline and various stages in your self-evolution, you'll begin to notice patterns and tendencies in the choices you made that led to the next step along your journey.

Focus on the positive aspects, as there is no need to dredge up any painful memories or regrets you may have. You want to let go of the negative dramas in your past and hold on to the greatness of all you've experienced over the years. Intend to bring a smile to those who read your story. Inner and Outer Beauty for True Happiness

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." — Albert Einstein

Once you're all caught up to present time, it is a good idea to maintain a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, write down only positive things that made you smile or that took your breath away—just a brief description of that special moment in time. Leave out the complaints, concerns, and tedious details. Rather, use more concise phrases, like a poetic recollection of special moments that stood out during the day.

Your journal doesn't necessarily need to be filled with riveting adventures or extraordinary achievements, as it is more about taking pleasure in the sweetness of simplicity and the natural beauty of the human spirit, experiencing life with curiosity and wonderment. Even spending time alone can be particularly insightful—especially when you experience something new and different, or witness something remarkable. I Believe In Miracles: 5 Steps To Making The Impossible Happen

Make it a goal to do something totally crazy and wonderful at least once a week so you have some good juicy bits and pieces to add to your personal anthology. After several epic entries, you will have a beautiful little book of gratitude reflecting your most choice moments. Anytime you are feeling blue or lonely, you can thumb through this classic collection of fond reminiscence to lift your spirits and evoke that sense of gratefulness for living a full, fun-filled life.

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us." — Albert Schweitzer

From shifting your melancholy mood to a feeling of appreciation, you can rise up and overcome negative emotions. Maintain an attitude of gratitude as much as possible, as you (and others) will notice a positive energy shift in your disposition, opening yourself up to receive even more blessings than you can even imagine.
