Dr. DeMaria is a senior staff therapist at Council for Relationships in Philadelphia where she is also on the faculty and serves as the Director of Relationship Education. She received her Doctorate from Bryn Mawr College's School of Social Work and Social Research. She is a Clinical Member of AAMFT, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.

With over 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. DeMaria is an experienced clinician who is an active teacher, speaker and author who specializes in helping couples at the brink of break up. She is one of the most experienced marriage and relationship educators in the US and provides programs throughout the country. She incorporates the best of knowledge and skills that help individuals and couples become more loving and compassionate, while achieving their life dreams and hopes.

Her specific areas of interest include: couple and marital therapy, marriage and divorce mediation, sex therapy, remarriage/blended families, premarital counseling, anger management, money issues, depression/anxiety, family business issues, and marriage and family ministry. Dr. DeMaria also conducts women's groups as a regular part of her practice. She is an advocate for the importance of successful intimate relationships as a key to personal success and fulfillment.

The Reason I Became A Helping Professional

Helping people improve communication and self esteem so that their personal relationships would be enjoying and satisfying has always had my attention. I have devoted my adult life to the study of intimate relationships - why they work -- and why they don't. There is so much great information available to help people achieve their hopes for loving and safe relationships. I also benefit personally in my own life from learning and applying what we know works!

Teaching individuals and couples skills in a class setting has helped me expand my knowledge, skills and appreciation for the power people have within them to change the lives.
