Who Is Jim Inhofe's Wife? New Details On Kay Inhofe
Their son passed away in 2013.
Jim Inhofe has been a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma since 1994, previously serving for seven years as a U.S. Representative for Oklahoma’s 1st congressional district, and six years as the Mayor of Tulsa. He’s been re-elected three times, and began serving his first full term in 1996.
Inhofe is the most conservative member of the Senate. Since 2003, he’s denied global warming exists, even though he chaired the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) from 2003 to 2007, and again from 2015 until 2017. He’s received significant payments from Exxon: over $20,000 since 2007. In 2015, he brought a snowball onto the Senate floor and talked about how environmentalists talk about global “warming” though it “keeps getting cold.”
Inhofe is also known to hold quite controversial opinions, including supporting an amendment to ban same-sex marriage, and even proposed an amendment to make English the United States’ national language. He also blamed “culture of sanctuary cities” instead of lenient gun control and legislation for the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.
But even though his views don’t sit quite right with Democrats and even some Republicans, we’re curious about his personal life. Just who is Jim Inhofe’s wife, in particular? Here are 4 details to know about Kay Inhofe.
1. They’ve been married for almost 60 years.
The couple tied the knot in 1959.
2. They have four kids.
The couple are parents to four grown children: Perry, Jim, Molly, and Katie. They also are grandparents to 16 grandkids!
3. Their son passed away.
In 2013, their son Perry died in a plane crash after the engine failed. The 51-year-old was flying a plane alone for the first time after training, and it crashed 5 miles from Oklahoma’s Tulsa International Airport.
4. She once sued her brother.
In 2007, Kay sued her brother, John, over their shared company, Guaranty Abstract Co., over $8.5 million. The company allegedly used the money for compensation and personal use. The siblings inherited the company from their parents, but the case was dismissed when the two resolved the matter themselves.
