Cardi B And Offset Had Their Baby Girl! New Details About The Meaning Behind The Baby's Name
It's all an ode to Offset.
Cardi B has officially given birth.
She and Offset welcomed their little girl Kulture Kiari Cephus on July 10 with a photo of a heavily pregnant Cardi surrounded by flowers. Very reminiscent of Beyonce's internet-breaking pregnancy photo shoot.
The caption read: "Kulture Kiari Cephus 7/10/18."
Now everyone is left wondering what the meaning is behind her baby's unique name. Especially because the parents have yet to explain it.
It's no surprise that Cardi and Offset would choose a name like this, seeing as she was born Belcalis Almanzar and he, Kiari Kendrell Cephus.
So the baby's middle name, Kiari, is an ode to her father. The origin of the name is relatively unknown, but according to Names.org, it's thought to mean "beautiful soul," which is incredibly fitting.
But what about the meaning of the baby's first name?
Kulture seems to be a unique spelling of the word, "culture." While we tend to use it as a way of defining our beliefs and customs in terms of our class and race, it originally comes from a Latin term which means to tend to the earth a grow.
Or to "cultivate and nurture." Also very fitting for the baby, considering it is Cardi's first child.
However, some people have speculated that there is a deeper meaning behind "Kulture," that once again, goes back to Offset.
The rapper's musical group, Migos, has two albums named Culture; one released in 2017 and one in 2018. It makes sense that this is where the baby's name came frame, especially because Cardi told Ellen DeGeneres in April that Offset had already chosen the baby's name.
"My dude named the baby," she said. "I really like the name."
Choosing to spell culture in that unique way — only five occurrences of that name, with that particular spelling, have been recorded — could be a nod to Kulture's siblings.
Offset has three children from previous relationships, and while his oldest son's name is Jordan, his youngest two are named Kody and Kalea; both "K" names. It could also be mimicking Offset's real name, Kiari Kendrell.
