The (Sorta Scary) Thing You Absolutely MUST Do If You Want To Find Love Online

Yes, there's a trick to meeting someone online.

Dating is hard.

Even in today's modern age with so many options for online dating — from simple apps where you swipe to online matchmaking services that use complex algorithms — finding the right person can still be a serious challenge.

Some people spend years typing their info into apps and dating sites only to ask, "Does online dating even work?!"

In the latest In-Depth video from YourTango Experts, neuroscientist Lucy Brown and biological anthropologist Helen Fisher talk about whether online dating is enough to find love.

Is it possible that we will meet our soulmates just by signing up for all the dating sites and apps we can find?

To help prove their point, they explain a "bet" BBC Two TV set up involving a single doctor and a mathematician, about who could more quickly find a handsome young man a date.

The single doctor bet he could find a girl on his own, and they bet that a mathematician would be able to find him a girl with a specially-designed algorithm.

So who was right? You'll have to watch the video, above, and find out!

But what does all of this mean for the average single woman who is looking for real, lasting love?

It seems like, from this experiment and the knowledge of our Experts, online dating can help you find the right type of match ... but it can't tell you whether this person is your love

You can enter a room with 100 eligible partners all selected for you, but you won't be attracted to all of them.

So go sign up for your online dating sites, but don't expect the matchmaking software to do all the work for you. You'll need to show up, too.

Getting a match is only the beginning. The rest is up to you.
