Wake-Up, Ladies! A Man Who Routinely Makes You Cry Is NOT The One

When you find someone who treats you the way you deserve, you'll be shocked at how easy it is.

I used to roll my eyes when I heard the saying, "There's only one man who is worth your tears, and he won't make you cry," because come on! Are we expected to believe that there's just never a relationship that will cause us tears? Ridiculous!

It was only when I got out of dating guys who made me cry and found those who treated me like they wanted to keep me around that I got the point: Relationship ups-and-downs might make you cry, yes, but a dude who is routinely the source of your tears is NOT "the one" (or, if you don't believe in that, he's not even in the group of soulmates you're meant to spend time with).

I know, I didn't believe it either. I always thought, "You have to FIGHT for what you LOVE!" and that we were just going through "settling in" troubles and once we hammered out all our problems, life would be smooth sailing for the rest of our relationship.

Listen to me: That is garbage. When you find someone who treats you the way you deserve, you're going to be shocked at how easy it is. I know I was.

After the first couple months of dating the guy I ended up marrying, I panicked a little because it was easy  almost too easy. "What is he hiding?!?" I thought, full of suspicion. I was convinced that there had to be a problem because nothing worthwhile is this effortless, right?

Nope. Completely wrong.

Love with someone who loves you and treasures you is effortless. That's not to say that life won't throw the two of you some curve ball but there won't be any more of you just sitting around crying about not feeling good enough because of something your partner did or said, and no more of those awful all-night conversations about how one of you plans to change ongoing hurtful behaviors, and then everything will be better and perfect.

That drama will never magically transform your relationship into the one of your dreams no matter how much you hope it will. Cut it out.

Stop sitting around giving someone a chance to make you cry again, and go out and find the one who wouldn't dare. That person isn't a myth; you just have to go find him.
