Can't wait to binge-watch season 2? Danielle Brooks (aka 'Taystee') tells us what's ahead.
Netflix released the trailer for season 2 of Orange Is The New Black yesterday and the Internet freaked out. This is understandable since we have all been eagerly waiting for something to binge-watch on date night.
In celebration of the fact that we are finally getting more episodes of Orange Is The New Black, we caught up with Danielle Brooks (aka Tasha 'Taystee' Jefferson) to get the scoop on season 2.
"You will see more back stories in season 2," she said. Brooks also teased that we might be learning more about Taystee's back story. Viewers rejoice.
Of course, we also wanted to know if filming Orange Is The New Black is as catty as what we see on the show. Brooks was quick to deny that there is any drama behind the scenes and tells us that she thoroughly enjoys working with the diverse range of women on the show including Whites, Hispanics, Blacks and Asians. "We are like the O & B sorority," she said.
Aww … doesn't that just warm your heart?
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here is a summary. The clip begins with Piper in solitary confinement (We are guessing it has something to do with the drama that went down between her and another one of the inmates in the season finale). We then see a series of different scenes featuring familiar faces like Crazy Eyes, Red and Nicky. Additionally, a few new characters are also introduced in the trailer and we can't wait to meet them.
From what we can tell, the new season is going to be full of conflict and sex and we approve. In fact, the trailer explicitly states that sh*t is hitting the fan and that a 'storm' is well on its way to hit Litchfield Prison. It also looks like someone may be getting hurt as we see a gunshot fired (please don't let it be Crazy Eyes, we beg of you!).
We are excited to see how Piper's character transforms this season after she has spent one full season in prison. The trailer hints that her character will begin to explore the darker side since she has learned the lay of the land by now and knows what she needs to do to survive. In one scene, Piper says, “I am a lone wolf and a vicious one. Don't make me rip your throat out.”
Roar. You tell them, girl.
The new season will be released on June 6th so mark your calendars now!
