Love win: A new poll reveals 59% of the country supports same-sex marriage.

After the recent news that Arizona could possibly be making a law that would make it legal to refuse service to gays, you might think that our country hasn't made much progress on the gay rights front. But thankfully, a new poll is happy to report the opposite.

The Washington Post-ABC News poll found that a record 59 percent of people support same-sex marriage. And it's not just in the states where gay marriage is legal. In the 33 states that prohibit gay marriage, 53 percent believe in allowing it, while 40 percent oppose it.

And, the country's majority believes same-sex marriage is a lawful right for our country. Half of all Americans believe that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, and they believe businesses should not be able to deny serving gays for religious reasons (hear that, Arizona?). Contrary to the 50 percent, 41 percent say that the Constitution doesn't guarantee gay rights.

Additionally, a Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN) survey just revealed that being gay-friendly is acutally good for business. Companies that celebrate all diversity, including the LGBT community, are better off because productivity and work quality is much higher when their employees are happy. However, one third of the survey's respondents reported they face workplace harassment.

"Good employers know that people perform best when they can be themselves. While this research shows the challenges faced by many lesbian, gay and bisexual employees, it also clearly shows why it makes good business sense to address these issues," David Roche, director of Diversity Champions said to Queerty.

While we still have a ways to go with the 34 percent of the country who are opposed to gay marriage, it's great to see that the country is making progress with gay rights. In fact, support for same-sex marriage has changed faster than almost any social issue in the past ten years.

Let's keep the equal love spreading rapidly.
