I'm coming up on my first wedding anniversary and while I've been looking forward to it for some time, I find myself with the familiar feeling of 99 percent excitement and 1 percent anxiety that characterizes so many special occasions.
As a young-ish person living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, with all sorts of costly interests and hobbies, and a dual career in two of the least lucrative fields in existence, money can be, shall we say, an issue. Since we often think of celebration as synonymous with splurging, these special occasions can feel challenging. After all, it's hard to enjoy yourself when all you can think about is how you’ll have to eat packaged ramen for a year to make up for this one night.
