Client is Thankful

By

As an author, we don't always know if our books are dropping into the blackhole...are they helping anyone, is anyone inspired, making their way because of our labor of love?  I received the following email encouragement the other day.  It was great hearing from this reader.

Dear Trudy,

I'm writing to say thank you for writing your book, "C.P.R." -- I am about 1/2 way through, and I must admit, its harder than I imagined to complete, but at the same time it's the one piece of literature that is really compassionate and caring. I've really appreciated what I've read so far because one of the biggest emotions I've had since having my abortion 7 months ago is loneliness, and it was so nice to have someone say "you're not alone, this happens to a lot of women". The only people that know about my abortion are my husband, my counselor and my acupuncturist. I also appreciate the emphasis on journaling in your book; although it is truly difficult to re-play, I know it is good for me in the long run.

I just wanted to write to you because, as I said, I sincerely appreciated the compassion that comes across so clearly in your book. Thank you for all the work you are doing.

In her quest to find relief for her situation, she never dreamed she would be struck with an overwhelming sadness that she couldn't shake. Only a little less shocking than the news of the pregnancy (she was on birth control pills) was ... Read more

The voice on the other end of the line was hesitant. I could tell this was a woman who wasn't sure she could trust her own instincts, much less trust me. I tried to re-assure her that I am a safe person to talk with about unexpected grief after voluntarily terminating a pregnancy. As we talked, I realized how many times I'd heard this ... Read more
