When Justin Bieber and girlfriend Selena Gomez adopted a puppy together recently, we wondered if they were too young to be rushing into things. And, now with the couple battling their first full-fledged (and very adult) scandal, we wonder if we were right.
Recently, RadarOnline reported that after 8 months as a super-cute couple, Selena, 19, has dumped Justin over the allegations that he fathered a child with a groupie, despite the "Baby" singer's insistence that he has never even met his supposed baby-mama, 20-year-old Mariah Yeater. "Selena ended it abruptly. She broke the news to Justin just in the past 24 hours," said a source to the gossip website.
"His camp is in damage control mode and attempting to convince her to stick around in the relationship for a few more weeks, because they fear it will be seen as an admission that something indeed took place between Justin and the woman who is alleging that he's the father of her baby," added the source.
And sure enough, shortly after the breakup rumors flooded the Internet last week, Team Justin did their best to stamp them down:
"They're still together. Selena simply left the country because she had a scheduled appearance at the MTV EMA's she's hosting. She is standing by her man," added another tipster to Radar. 4 Love Lessons Grown Men Can Learn From Justin Bieber
Last week, Justin, 17, who has reportedly agreed to undergo a paternity test and may even counter-sue Mariah Yeater if he is not revealed to be the father of her child, spoke out about the scandal to the Today show, stating: "I'd just like to say basically that none of those allegations are true... I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim."
Allegedly, the Biebs lost his virginity by having unprotected sex with Mariah after a concert in a bathroom and then never called her again. Mariah now has a 3-month-old son that she is claiming is the result of their one-time fling, reports People.
