How to Handle a Tough Guy

This weekend my husband and I had a great time right at home. We browsed through some music files together that listed the top 100 hits of the 1980’s, by each year. Many of the songs brought up some sort of childhood memory. I told him about how I was one of the cool people that had a “brand new" Casio sampling keyboard. He told me what was hot about the female singers and I made fun of him for enjoying a little too many Billy Ocean songs. We both reminisced about the “first” videos on MTV.
I am so arrogantly proud to say that I believe that I have earned my stripes at both handling tough guys and watching MTV, so, here’s my advice for any girl trying to get herself a hold of a tough guy.
For illustration purposes, I turn to the ever so popular Jersey Shore for lessons on what to do and not to do to a tough guy:
Do: Expect Changes
If you’re somebody that needs a man to fall into line with what you plan every single time, then a tough guy is definitely not for you. Expect a tough guy to make up his own mind and that means that you have to be flexible and recognize that your independence is a real asset here.
When Ronnie decides that he would like to go out and informs Sam that he’ll be at a particular nightclub, she decided to not go out herself, but instead stay home and sulk.
The thing to do here is to go out simultaneously and perhaps agree to meet up later out at a diner for some late-night food and conversation. Even if you separate, you have the benefit of reuniting and reminding the guy you like that his favorite woman is who he wants to go home with. Lengthen the rope and just see if you actually enjoy bringing him back him in. This is a way to turn the “waiting up” scenario into a “can’t wait to see you” scenario that you might want to try if you like a tough guy. One thing is for sure, neither one of you will enjoy the conversation that starts “So, tell me why I waited so long.” Sitting for more than an hour thinking about what you’re going to confront a strong willed man with is a step in the wrong direction.
