Her last break-up may have led to a suicide attempt, but Alexa Ray Joel hasn't given up on love.
Bad break-ups are hard to get over, sometimes impossible-feeling, which is why we have to admire Alexa Ray Joel's spirit.
After having a particularly heart-breaking year last year, in which she broke up with her long-term, bass-playing ex, Jimmy Riot; popped a lot of pills in a supposed suicide attempt; and made a visit to the hospital that was chronicled by every major newspaper; Alexa has reportedly moved on and has started dating again. Her new beau is 24-year-old guitarist Cass Dillon, who was hired to play guitar on the aspiring singer's new album, reports LimeLife.com.
"Dating can be awkward," Alexa said in April to People Magazine. "I prefer to meet someone through work or socially."
Alexa, the 24-year-old daughter of Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel, has also denied reports that she had been suicidal.
"It kind of bothers me, that the press calls this an overdose. And I take full responsibility for what I've done. But at the same time, I wasn't trying to kill myself. I have a flair for the dramatic, OK, I'm an artist. I'm a performer. Did I actually want to die? Absolutely not. I was not suicidal," she told RadarOnline.com.
Although we are nervous that dating another musician might not have been the wisest move on Alexa's part, we hope that she has at least learned from her last relationship about how to end a relationship without going bananas from grief.
