Are profile-writing services deceptive?

Do online dating profile-writing services threaten the integrity of online dating? Is it dishonest to have a friend help write your online dating profile?

I agree with Chacha. A good friend, one who is close and can call you on your faults would be a good hand at writing a profile (at least that is how I feel). I couldn't say about a service though as I've never used one or seen the result of someone I know using one. I guess that would be an interesting experiment, to find out what their process is and what the result would be.

How is this any different than having a friend or a professional photographer take your profile pictures (something that is very common)?

Your profile is like your dating resume and some people need a little extra help writing theirs. Just like some people need a little help writing their actual resumes. Jeez, are resume writing services deceptive?

If it quacks like a duck it is a duck. If you write a profile that makes you sound conceited you are...the dating world doesn't need more MARKETING it needs more honesty. Write your own profile.

No because sometimes you don't see yourself as fully as someone else does. Or you aren't always cognizant of aspects of who you are. Plus having another person there can help you recognize when you are sounding weird, crazy....conceited. You know.
