Did Whitney Marry Bobby To Squash Gay Gossip?

Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston
In his tell-all book, Bobby Brown dredges up old rumors about Whitney Houston's bisexuality

Bobby Brown has jumped in front of the spotlight again. In a move that will surely sell more copies of his new tell-all book, Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But..., the troubled singer digs up some old dirt on ex-wife Whitney Houston and smears it all over her. Interesting timing, considering that she's currently in the midst of a musical comeback. Getting Revenge On Your Ex: Is It Worth It?

Although Bobby doesn't claim that Whitney is gay or bisexual, he believes that she married him to kill gossip about a romantic involvement with a former female employee. Bobby writes,

[The marriage] was doomed from the very beginning...I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married...I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children.

The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn't go too well with her image...In Whitney's situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not.

We question the validity of these claims not just because of the source, but because we can't imagine any woman in her right mind marrying Bobby Brown to clean up her image. Isn't that kind of like marrying a serial killer to stay alive?

Whether these rumors are true remains to be seen, but does it really matter? Being gay in the entertainment industry is nothing new or shocking, so if Whitney does like the ladies, we doubt anyone will care...with the possible exception of gays who are offended that she thought 15 crazy years with Bobby were worth dodging the "gay" bullet.
