Jon and Kate's tabloid feud rages on, but what about the Plus 8?
Guess what? Kate Gosselin has finally realized that her and Jon's ridiculous, never-ending battle for the spotlight is negatively affecting her children. Give that woman a kewpie doll! (Actually, you might want to give her eight or there will just be more fighting.) How To Minimize Kids' Anxiety During A Divorce
The woman with the most famous hairdo since Jennifer Aniston recently confessed to Vanity Fair's Nancy Jo Sales that the stress from her impending divorce (and Jon's removal from the show's "equation"), along with the constant media frenzy (appearing on tabloid covers more than even Brangelina) is causing the Gosselin kids to crack. Kate explains,
I’m trying to give them the grace to see, if they’re acting out of line, I’m trying to look deeper into why that is. Why the kids are acting out. Cause it’s all inter-related. I mean, they don’t see it, but it’s all interconnected. They miss [Jon]. They say they miss him. I imagine they say the same thing when I’m away...
One could almost feel bad for Kate, reading that quote out of context. However, when faced with the whole interview, it becomes much tougher to conjure up sympathy for her. Certainly, not many people are on Jon's side these days, but if the purpose of this new story was to paint Kate in a warmer light (and we're not sure it was), it didn't really do the trick. Just the image of her blindly walking the aisles in F.A.O. Schwarz (in what was more of a photo op than a toy shopping excursion) while a personal shopper told her what kind of stuff her kids would like was rather disturbing. (Then she stepped on some little boy's foot and it was all over. Accident or no, that's the image that will stick with readers.)
Although Kate's conceded that this family circus is not good for her children, she still vehemently denies that actually being a part of the show is hurting them, as Jon has claimed in a cease and desist order. Because of his complaint, taping has halted and Kate says that the kids have reacted with “wailing and sobbing.” She continued, “They love our crew, they love the interaction, they love the events. There is nothing harmful about it. They are angry.” 1 In 4 Kids In Divorce Becomes Parental Pawn
Of course the kids are angry. And we don't doubt that Jon and Kate love the Plus 8, but we hope that they can put all of their grousing and media whoring aside for one minute and find out exactly why they're so angry. Are they angry that filming has stopped? Are they angry that filming ever started? Or are they just angry that family has taken a backseat to fame?
