Billy Joel Splits from Katie Lee
Billy Joel and his third wife Katie Lee are over for good.
And after much speculation that their relationship was on the rocks—the music is over for Billy Joel and Katie Lee, his wife of five years. The couple announced yesterday that they are officially separating with a statement from their reps that said, “After nearly five years of marriage Billy Joel & Katie Lee Joel have decided to separate. Despite a nearly thirty-year age difference between the couple, their marriage really did begin like something out of a fairy tale complete with a waterfront wedding in Long Island back in 2004. But fast forward five years and trouble started brewing when Katie was showing up at events with Israeli-born fashion designer Yigal Azrouel—and was recently spotted dirty dancing with him at a club. Sources tell Us Weekly that Azrouel had “nothing to do with the split” and that “everything is very amicable and it was just a growing apart."
One person who wasn’t surprised by the news is Billy’s daughter Alexa Ray. “I have a pretty good women's intuition, so I can tell," Alexa said. "I know my dad pretty well, so I’m behind him." Alexa’s mom is Billy’s second wife, Christie Brinkley who went through her own messy divorce from Peter Cook last year.
