to have loved and lost

to have loved and lost

Is it better to have loved and lost or never to have loved at all?
Had there never been love, there would be no pain right now. There would be no sleepless nights and tears running down into quivering hands. There would be no endless days, thinking of all the mistakes made, replaying them over and over again, wondering if things were different somehow, would they still be by your side? There would be no lonely nights with agonizing visions of your past with their present loves, eating away at your soul. Wondering, wishing, praying that they would return to your side, where they belong. Your mind wouldnt wander throughout your solitude days as to how to get them back, even though they are so far gone. You wouldn't be lonely in a crowded place, because your partner is not by your side.
Is it better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all?
You wouldnt have all those rose colored memories of days past, when once you were happy. There would be no rememberences of laughter, sitting in the park hand in hand as if the world was created only for you. There would be no memories of long nights in eachothers arms, silent, gazing into their eyes.
Is it better to have loved and lost to have never loved at all?
There is no happiness without pain, no light without dark. You will never know how the glory of love touches your soul, without the pain of losing it. You will appreciate what you have when you know life without it prescence.
Can broken hearts ever completely heal? Let's hope so............
