It's finally snowing in the Dirty South! I'm so excited about it. I woke up this morning to a text alert from my coworker saying, "It's snowing outside!" I hopped up and went to my window and what do ya know, it's snowing out there and it's coming down in beautiful billowy fluffy puffs.

It's the kind of day you just want to snuggle up under the covers with your sweetie, sip some hot cocoa, and stay in all day. But my sweetie isn't big on snow days at all. He was lucky enough to live up North for a bit of his life. He went to the Naval Academy and was in the Marines for a while so he's been around the snowy winter wonderlands in his lifetime. I on the otherhand have only seen snow a handful of times in my life. I thought well maybe my excitement comes from me being 10 years younger than him. He's 37 and I'm 27 but my dad is 54 and he was excited about the snow, too.
I called Steven just for kicks and said "Good Morning Sweetie! It's snowing outside." And he said in a dry sort of way, "Is it now?" I was like, "Yeah it is! Hooray!!!" My church cancelled their service because the news has declared this a full out winter storm. Steven thought that was ridiculous, he was like people should just go on to where they need to go. Since I needed to help my father today, who is paralyzed from a rare condition, I figured I'd stay in. He said he was going to get dressed and take his chances going to his church but he said he'd come back to my house for some delicious cheese grits if church was cancelled for him.
He said though that there were people there and church is still going to go on for now. It's starting to snow hard again so I know when he gets out, he'll be surprised to see his car and everything else blanketed by the snow.
I don't want to give you guys the wrong impression about my guy. He's wonderful! He's up for new things and excited to do things with me. Like Valentine's Day weekend we went to the ATL and went to the fabulous Aquarium there. We had plans to leave early, go to the mall, and then go to Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, but we were having such a great time at the Aquarium we stayed a little longer. Steven was determined to have me touch a sting ray since he got to. Once I touched one of those slippery little sting rays, we left and there was no time to go to the mall so we ran to the Target to get some things and then we got dressed. When we called Gladys Knight's to find out the wait time they said it was two and a half hours. So we decided to just find some place. So we went to a Caribbean Island Grill and it was delicious. He ate goat though and I thought that was a little funky.

After that we went to the Botanical Gardens and danced to a hot new jazz singer. We drank martinis and went outside to sit under the stars. Then we walked around and looked at the orchids in the greenhouse. It was a magical night.
For now though, I just wish I could convince him about how cool snow is, no pun intended.
*Update: He's bringing me Starbucks and we're going to cuddle on the sofa. Hooray!!!*
