Money Saving Wedding Ideas?

Hey, anyone out there have ideas for budget wedding planning? I'm planning mine for next summer and luckily my fiance and I are both employed, but we'd like to have a frugal but still fun ceremony. I'm thinking of things like flowers, DJ & band, programs, even the location. We've scouted some possible places, hotels etc, but are there things I'm not thinking of? I want to save money without making it feel tacky. Any ideas would be appreciated!

A friend of mine collected canning jars and used spray mount adhesive to affix doilies on the front and turned them into lovely votive she hung from the branches of trees and used as centerpieces. It was lovely and romantic and cheap. She got the votive candles from IKEA and the jars from her grandmas and some from wal mart.

A lot of parks have buildings on their grounds that are perfect for receptions. A friend of mine got married at a university in the chapel and then had the reception at the university arboretum that had this great cabin. I say look at local parks and universities. Also universities have halls and meeting areas that are great for receptions and you don't have to go there to rent the place. And check and see if they have catering.

I had a friend do the photography and we had it in the late evening so we only served appetizers. Another friend I had had her wedding in the afternoon and had salads.

Don't have a wedding. Marriage is kind of a moot institution.

Oh also, we had the wedding after supper and served appetizers and had a dessert bar. Saved us a lot of money.

We saved money by doing our own flower arrangements. We ordered the flowers from Sam's Club's web site, then we put them together with directions from Martha Stewart Magazine. They turned out great.

think about the possibility of having the wedding at your home or someone you know, whose home has a big enough back yard. you can save money on the venue, therefore have more money to spend on enhancing the backyard.
