About Debra Macleod

Debra Macleod, B.A., LL.B. is a couples’ mediator turned relationship author-expert who uses her extensive training, experience and skill set to help individuals and couples save their relationships, avoid divorce and make positive changes to their family and personal lives.  

She is the author of the Marriage SOS book series and her private practice, Marriage SOS, specializes in helping individuals save or improve their relationships by taking the initiative to make positive, essential changes.  She has offices in Calgary, Alberta and serves clients across North America with telephone consultations.  She sees couples who are struggling with all manner of relationship problems, from broken trust to blended families and everything in between. 

Debra also offers “date-for-marriage” consultations to women who are looking for comprehensive dating strategies to help them move forward in their lives. Her book, The Modest Minx, provides innovative, sophisticated dating advice for women who wish to meet and marry quality men.  For those looking for a more light-hearted, indulgent look at love, her book Ancient Bitches is a guilty read that combines the author's relationship expertise with her love of classical history.

Finally, Debra is the author of the New Vesta book series. This book series will be of particular interest to women who identify as "spiritual but not religious" and who wish to bring an intelligent spiritual focus to their marriage, family and home life in order to strengthen these bonds and avoid divorce and family breakdown.

Academically, Debra holds a Law Degree from Dalhousie University, a Certificate in Interpersonal Conflict Resolution from the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society (now the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta) and is an AAMS-trained divorce and family mediator.  Debra also holds a Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta.

Debra is also the co-author (along with her husband Don) of six top-selling intimacy guides written for long-term, mainstream couples who are struggling to balance emotional and physical intimacy within marriage.  The authors believe that “the couple that plays together stays together,” and these titles reflect that light-hearted yet important philosophy.

Debra’s books have received excellent reviews from USA TODAY and THE LIBRARY JOURNAL (starred review) and a “Best in Bed” Award from WOMEN’S HEALTH MAGAZINE.
