The Reason I Became A Helping Professional
Throughout my years of growth and development, it became self-evident that no one goes through life without adversity. In my own personal life, I found greater understanding and insight through my own professional counseling that afforded me the opportunity to self examine and explore who I am and my purpose in life. It was Socrates who once said" A life unexamined is not a life worth living." It was through my own personal experience with psychotherapy that I decided to enter the profession after I had divorced in 1975 with five children from the ages of three to eleven. Although it was a struggle to earn my degree, develop and maintain a private practice, it was the best decision I ever made. The investment of time, effort and money I made with my personal work in psychotherapy and the years of education and training I received, has been the best investiment I made in my life. I continue to receive enormous gratitude in my work and feel that because I love what I do, I never have to work for the rest of my life!
