Recession Romance: Top 10 DVD's to "Get the Party Started"

What can possibly be more sexy (and more romantic) than a living room picnic eating Chinese food out of those cute little cartons with chopsticks? (unless you take out clothing to this equation....) Add to this mix a magical movie and you've got all the ingredients for Romance Recession style! The following are my top picks for your DVD dinner accompaniment. These are guaranteed Mack Flicks (Man + Chick = MACK) romantic movies that will be appealing to you both and get your party started!

Number 10 - "About a Boy" A wonderful movie that stars Hugh Grant as a carefree bachelor that transcends to responsible man through a pre-teen boy. I mean, HELLO - Hugh Grant? Yum. But, all the gadgetry and his batch pad are irresistible and your dude will love how he plays the role so well of single guy. Why watch it? It will really wake up that "single guy" and show him he can't play forever!

Number 9: "You've Got Mail" - come on, classic romance with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It's "high tech" for it's day, and two people meet ONLINE and actually ENJOY themselves through the process. It's not all that smultzy, either, with both the main characters being smart business people in a single world. You BOTH can relate! Go retro for the night!

Number 8: "She-Devil" Maybe it's old, and maybe it's one you've never heard of, but Meryl Streep is WAY too funny in this romantic triangle comedy. Ed Begley, Jr. and Roseann Barr round out the cast. If your guy ever even THOUGHT of cheating, this movie will certainly shock him into the realities of Karma! Full of cliches, and full of laughs. It will lighten the mood, and open doors to maybe go where neither of you have gone before!

Number 7: "Peggy Sue Got Married" Ever wonder how far you've come as a couple? This movie is hysterically funny, and Kathleen Turner does a darn good job of time-warping. Your dude will be able to relate because Nicholas Cage is SUCHA DUDE in this movie. It's fun, yet thought-provoking - AND if you've waited for the "where is this going" conversation, then this movie is the ONLY one to play to get him to open up for that conversation!

Number 6: "America's Sweethearts" Two names: Julia & Catherine. As in Roberts & Zeta-Jones. This is a truly fun movie with Billy Crystal and John Cusack rounding out the cast. It's a real "go for what you truly want" movie. Funny, Romantic and just down right hysterical in some parts. Your guy will never look at cactus again without laughing out loud!

Number 5: "Stepmom" Again, one name: Julia Roberts. This movie is all about letting go of the past and moving forward. Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris bring to the screen an "enormously entertaining, and emotionally uplifting" film. The two kids in it are bratty enough that you'll be glad they're not yours, but sweet enough that you wish they were. Does your DUDE need a push? "Stepmom" it is!

Number 4: "Something's Gotta Give" There is SO much right with this movie that it's a for sure romance launcher. Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton are fan-tab-u-lous. Definitely one for the middle-aged and older, proving that what's in front of your eyes is worth every ounce of energy! (Keanu Reeves looks darn good, too).

Number 3: "Say it isn't So" You may have to dig really deep to find this golden oldie starring Heather Graham and Chris Klein but it is SO worth it! If the story line doesn't have you in stitches, Sally Field will!
