I’m a New York City sex + relationship expert -- Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine -- New York Magazine “Best Doctor” -- and the author of a blog SexualityToday on my website and on PsychologyToday focused on new developments in sexuality, clinical sexuality, and sexual medicine.
Not many sex therapists are MD’s, and not many psychiatrists still do much psychotherapy. So I’m somewhat of an anomaly on both counts. I’ve been an active member of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) since 1995, a featured lecturer and discussant at the Society’s national meetings, and have served on both its Professional Book Award and its Consumer Book Award committees. I’m currently the Chairman of the SSTAR Consumer Book Award Committee
In my writing, I try to address issues such as What makes sex worth having? and What makes relationships work? I'm also interested in what's happening with sexuality in the modern world and sexuality in popular culture. I'm one of the few men to have read the entire Twilight and Fifty Shades series all the way through.
I live with my wife and children in Manhattan – which actually isn’t so bad, if you don’t mind a lot of noise.
