Love

You may think it's just not worth it — but you're totally wrong.

Love is not always rainbows and unicorns — I’ll give you that. It’s a lot of hard work.

At times, love can seem useless, especially if you’re constantly with the WRONG guy. And it can be just as bad if you can’t seem to find ANY guy at all. So, you think: “Screw it! I’m a strong, independent woman who don’t need NO man!” That’s all well and good, but I think you might want to reconsider.

Don’t get me wrong, being comfortable with being by yourself is really important, but so is companionship. Finding true love opens you up to the most amazing friendship there is. Relationships are all about trust and forming an unbreakable bond.

There’s no other partnership like the one between two people in love — and we all need to understand what relationships mean in our lives.

When you’re having a bad day and just feel like giving up, he’s there to wrap his arms around you and tell you everything is going to be okay. He’ll care for you when you feel like nobody else does. He’ll tell you you’re beautiful when you think you look like hell. When it feels like everything is going terribly wrong and your world is crumbling down, he will be there to reassure you and help you pick up the pieces.

I felt my own world come to a complete halt a few months ago when I lost my grandfather.

I had lost people in the past, distant relatives and whatnot, but never someone I was as close to as my grandfather. It was an incredibly pivotal moment in my life. And there is no way I could have possibly made it through without my boyfriend.

My grandfather’s funeral was big and drawn out because he was a firefighter in a town where everyone knew him. So there were hundreds of people who came to pay their respects, and he was given a full fireman’s funeral. Let’s just say, it is an experience I will never forget in my life.

Like my grandfather, my boyfriend is also a firefighter and he, unfortunately, had been to firefighter funerals before. Not only did he show up wearing his full uniform and stood tall next to the other firefighters that lost a brother that day, but he knew exactly how to console me and what he needed to do to be there for me — on one of the hardest days of my life, I felt grateful.

So, for the people who say that relationships are just too hard or they don’t have time for them, think again.

In reality, life is way too short, and we shouldn’t be spending it alone.

Everyone deserves someone who gives them butterflies in the pit of their stomach and makes their heart race every time they come near. There’s nothing like love to help us see the beauty of life and achieve true happiness. If you don’t believe me, go out there and find out for yourself. I guarantee you won’t regret it.
