Sigh. Study Says Men Are More Attracted To This Type Of Woman

In a study that surprises no one, it was revealed that when it comes to online dating, there are some major discrepancies between the ages that women and men are most attracted to. The crazy thing is that it goes beyond just a few years.

According to OKCupid's president and co-founder Christian Rudder, "Women who are, say, 28 find guys who are also 28 about the most attractive, and so forth. Up until about 40, when that’s getting too old.”

So fellas, the older you are, the better your chances are of scoring a date. Based on my own dating experiences, this definitely sounds about right.

Now comes the sad (but completely unsurprising) part.

When it was the men's turn to answer, the age range they chose was ridiculously limiting. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite. Rudder breaks down the overall the survey by giving an example. He says “From the time you’re 22, you’ll [basically] be less hot than a 20-year-old, based on this data."

How depressing.

This data makes me wonder why it is that older men prefer dating younger women. Mid-life crisis aside, is there some sort of power balance involved? Or is it strictly a physical thing?

Whatever their reasoning behind this is, it doesn't make us feel any less skeptical in online dating. Sigh.

When someone asked Rudder if he could figure out at what age women shouldn't even bother signing up, he tried to play coy by skating around the issue. So to sum it up, men would rather go after someone who is younger than them than a woman that is around their own age. This study just proves what we've known all along: When it comes to dating, women are way more open-minded.

What a shocker.
