It's Oscar season! Which means it's time to start judging celebrity gowns and bickering in the office about who should have won. But it might also mean the end of a relationship for one unlucky starlet if the Oscar love curse strikes again. Though the main hits are taken by the Best Actress winners, there have been incidents of the Best Supporting Actress winners being struck and having their relationships end. Actresses from Bette Davis to Kate Winslet have been victims of the Oscar Curse.
There have been a few exceptions, like Joanne Woodward, who won Best Actress in 1958 and was happily married to Paul Newman until his death in 2008. The same went for Jessica Tandy and a small handful of other actresses. This year, only half of the ladies are safe, either being currently single or windows of long-time spouses. Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins, Lupita Nyong'o and June Squibb are in the clear. But who runs the risk of breaking up with their honey? Read on to find out.
Cate Blanchett is a Best Actress contender for Blue Jasmine, in which she played Jeanette “Jasmine” Francis. She has been married to playwright Andrew Upton since 1997, and they have three sons together.
Meryl Streep was also nominated for Best Actress, for her role as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. She is married to Don Gummer, with whom she has a son and three daughters. Since they've been together since 1978, we don't see a little thing like the Oscars breaking them up.
Amy Adams, nominated for Best Actress for her role as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle, is currently engaged to actor Darren Le Gallo, with whom she has one daughter. We're praying this adorable family stays intact!
Julia Roberts was also nominated for her role in August: Osage County, as Barbara Weston-Fordham. She is currently married to Daniel Moder, with whom she has three children. She beat the curse in 2001 when she won for Erin Brockovich while dating Benjamin Bratt, so hopefully she and Daniel Moder will be spared.
