Getting a guy to say "I love you," is as simple as baking these chocolate peanut butter cupcakes.
The votes are in!
Throughout our Breakfast, Love & Dinner initiative this October, we asked readers to submit their recipes for the "Next" Engagement Chicken—that is, the recipe for a dish so delicious it's sure to have a knockout effect on your love life.
In the case of Engagement Chicken, legend goes that one's boyfriend will be so in love with this lemon chicken that he'll have no choice but to propose soon after eating it. We thought it was time this concept got an update—after all, what if the man you're cooking for is a vegetarian, or simple doesn't like poultry?
Our all-star panel of judges reviewed the delicious recipes that were submitted throughout the month. Ultimately, they crowned "I Love You" Cupcakes, the winning recipe in our "Next" Engagement Chicken Recipe Contest. Check out the recipe and be prepared to drool. We don't doubt these chocolate, cookie dough, peanut butter cupcakes would make any guy fall to his knees in love (provided he doesn't have a peanut allergy!).
The recipe comes from YourTango Experts Editorial Intern Laura Wittren, who modified a recipe she found on Pinterest to create her signature "I Love You" Cupcakes for her sweets-loving boyfriend. While she and her boyfriend had already exchanged those three little words, his reaction confirms the cupcakes' purpose:
"He almost died of happiness when he had them," Wittren says. "He said he never wants to eat anything else again." Wittren says he told her "if I didn't love you before, I would definitely love you now."
The all-star panel of judges included: Andrea Miller, YourTango's CEO & founder; Jill Roberson, Content & Community Manager at Foodie.com; Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, sisters and stars of TLC's DC Cupcakes; and Anthony Cirone, owner of NYC-based chocolatier Li-Lac Chocolates.
As the contest winner, Wittren will receive a Breakfast, Love & Dinner prize pack, which includes a box of Li-Lac chocolates, a signed copy of the DC Cupcakes sisters' latest cookbook, Sweet Celebrations, and a $100 Whole Foods gift card.
