Freida Pinto: Boyfriend Dev Patel Is My 'Soulmate'
However, despite her deep feelings, the actress says she has no plans to settle down anytime soon.
Since meeting on the set of their very first film, Slumdog Millionaire, in 2008, Freida Pinto, 26, and 21-year-old Dev Patel have gone through an intense introduction to fame. Overnight, the British-Indian couple found themselves doing American talk-shows and attending red carpet events in Hollywood, an experience that has bonded them in a way that Freida claims that no one else can understand.
In the latest issue of Interview Magazine, the actress, who stars in the upcoming movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, gushes about how much Dev means to her:
"I don't think anybody—not even family or friends—can understand what the two of us have been through. As beautiful as it is, there are parts of it that just become a bit tiring to deal with. The paparazzi, for example, and not having privacy. He made a statement unknowingly once and he said, 'Oh, she is like my soul mate,' and we were not dating or anything back then, and it became this big hoopla. Like, 'Oh my god! How could he have said that? What does that mean?' But I guess he was right in a way; we are soul mates." Freida Pinto And Dev Patel Get Cozy In Israel
Despite their six year age gap, Freida says that her parents are relieved that she is with a "nice Indian boy instead of off in Hollywood with Colin Farrell."
"The first time, my mom was like, 'Well, he’s six years younger than you are.' I said, 'I know. I don’t know how it happened.' But she met him and it all worked out," she added.
However, despite her deep feelings for Dev, Freida recently told Jay Leno that she's in no hurry to get married to her 21-year-old beau.
"My family, they're very supportive of everything I do and they want me to do whatever I want to do.... If I do get married one fine day, which I know I will, they'll be happy for me. There's no pressure," she said, reports the LA Times. Freida Pinto Claims To Be Not Dating Dev Patel
