Matt Damon: Marrying An Actress Makes You Crazy

Matt claims his life is less "crazy" than Brangelina and other stars because of his non-famous wife.

Matt Damon is a household name, and an Academy Award winning screenwriter. Yet for the most part, Matt has been able to keep his name out of the tabloids and live a fairly normal life, at least for a celebrity.

Some of his friends, however, are not so lucky. Hollywood's elite may be able to afford virtually anything they want, but what they can't buy is privacy. The Good Will Hunting star told German television TELE 5 (via Today.com), "I have friends who are like prisoners. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for instance. They can't just go someplace. If they go for a walk, it turns into an international incident."

The actor credits living in a city "as cool" as New York City for his ability to live amongst the "regular" folks. He goes on to tell TELE 5 that he is very family-oriented, and his wife and children are the most important things in his life. Adorable, but not very tabloid-worthy.

"Ever since I found my wife (Luciana) and we had children, my whole life revolves around that. I'm not as crazy as most of the other stars. And we live in New York," he said. "As long as we don't show up in typical tourist spots, we can walk the streets without being noticed. New Yorkers are very cool, they don't flip out if they see me." Matt Damon Spill His Secrets To A Strong Marriage

Even so, other stars, such as the aforementioned Brangelina seem equally dedicated to their children and family. So then what is the real reason Matt's escaped the ever-looming eye of the media? According to him,  his wife.

"I don't really know why, probably because I married a woman who isn't an actress. I'm really lucky, because I have the best of both worlds. I do the work that I love and need, but don't need paramilitary troops to protect me when I walk out my front door."

So our advice to all of the Lindsay Lohans and other celebrities who are being harassed non-stop? Marry a "commoner." We're sure there are plenty of willing non-actors who would be more than willing to make the sacrifice to date one of Hollywood's most talked about stars.
