Japan's Waning Libido Causing Concern

It looks like Japan has a libido problem, and it's not just the menfolk.

You may not have known this, but the people of Japan have some hang-ups. After World War II, the Japanese transitioned from a samurai culture to a business-is-war culture. And from there to Dance Dance Revolution. And it turns out that the DDR generation is not as interested in baby-making as the old macho swordsmen. Perhaps there was a cultural backlash after the last generation of Japanese soldiers went to pasture. Whatever the cause, the grandchildren of the old Empire are not reproducing at the replacement rate.

While rich, educated Americans are having fewer babies than in the past, the Japanese baby situation may be a bit more visceral. Per Huffington Post, men in the Land of the Rising Sun are losing their libidos. The story goes that 36 percent of boys in Japan ages 16 to 19 have "little to no interest" in sex. And over 80 percent of 20-year-old Japanese dudes are currently not dating anyone. Not only that but half of the two decaders have NEVER had a girlfriend (note: some writers were into their 20s before they had their first girlfriends, so let's not judge). Japanese Women Buy Male Attention

Before you say, "Holy crunk, forget South Padre Island, let's go to spring break in Japan!" dig this: the ladies are even more disinterested in sex.

A writer who goes by the name Maki Fukasawa has been calling this generation of Japanese men herbivores for their lack of "proper, manly appetites."* The armchair psychologist says that this may be a result of this being the first generation of Japanese to have grown up with Internet access since they could walk.

Or maybe the stereotypically "weird" Japanese sex stuff has made the regular, vanilla stuff seem so boring that it's almost not worthwhile (I shudder to think what could happen in Germany were that actually the case). Maybe compliant pillow cases and realistic robots have replaced the need for flesh and blood lovers.  Or maybe that herbivore business is on the right track. Dang. Is Porn To Blame For All This ED?

It's likely that there are numerous factors involved, but I think an entire nation should take Ferris Bueller's advice: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and bone once in a while, you could miss it."**
