Is Online Dating Easier For Guys?

Some dating sites boast a female-unfriendly guy/gal ratio.

When you feel like you're the last single girl you know, jump online: There are dating sites for fitness fanatics, hotties with herpes, and gold diggers. What's this? You're not a cyclist with genital sores who's planning to marry up? Lucky for you there are plenty of mainstream dating sites as well. But even virtual pickup centers that cater to everyone have a demo they do best. Our friends over at awesome new lady-site Lemondrop (welcome to the web gals!) have a breakdown of the male/female ratio and average ages on various dating dotcoms.

Unfortunately, most of the dating sites are female heavy. Eharmony's members are 38% male and 62% female with an average age of 24-34. You might have better luck at Singlesnet.com, the sole site to boast a 50/50 male-female split.

The only sites with more guys than girls are Adam4Adam (84/16) and ManHunt.net (88/11). These sites aren't geared towards the female dater, but if you're looking for a gay best friend they might be the place to start.

There's plenty here for the older, or starting over online dater: Singlesnet.com, BlackPeopleMeet and True.com all favor the 45-54 crowd. Looking for a college hottie? DateHookUp's your site; their users are 18-24.

Check out Lemondrop for more info, and don't get too down on yourself. Dating is difficult! And draining! But you're not alone. Somewhere out there is a dude that feels like the last single man he knows, and he might be looking for you.

Or maybe guys have less hang ups about online dating.

Maybe the imbalance is because men can ask women out. Women aren't supposed to pursue men, so they have to go online to do it.

Then again, maybe it's the names. Maybe men feel awkward looking for harmony, but single sounds like fun.

Ouch. The one for married cheaters is skewed the other way with more men.

Wow - frankly, I'm *shocked* that most of the dating sites are skewed that much!
