Do Jerks Get Laid More?
Good news for psycho-narcissists.

A new study shows a 'dark triad' of Spencer Pratt-ian personality traits -- a narcissist's self-obsession, a Machiavellian's deceit and a psychopath's callous behavior -- are just the lust-cocktail some guys serve up get ladies in the sack, says New Scientist magazine.
Two hundred college students took personality tests and were also asked about their number of sexual partners. Only the young men showed a direct correlation between 'dark' traits,' like narcissism, and notches on the bed post. Another study of 35,000 people across 57 countries found a similar correlation 'between the dark triad and reproductive success in men.' This data says little about whether these guys are also capable of long-term, lasting relationships, though; it simply what bad boy behaviors will allegedly woo someone into bed.
We'd love to see more studies before we call this a bonafide 'trend' but it's certainly food for thought. What gives, ladies? We thought that old saying "women love a******s" was just a stereotype. What is it about a guy who lies you and only cares about himself that screams "sleep with me!"?

Yes, that's true.
But the a-holes also get stuck with women who are obviously just as self-absorbed, or have low self esteem. or who are just dumb. So it all pans out.
Men are just as guilty, by the way, of "falling in love" with sluts and passing up the good girls.
My advice is live and learn and focus on whether you want to end up happy or end up "popular."
While I recognize that jerky guys may impart more effort in picking up women, I think there is something inherently endearing to women about getting with the guy who makes himself the center of attention. It's like: if he thinks he's that great, and everyone (ie his loyal band of followers) seems to agree, then there must be something worthwhile beyond the facade. But it's always a slap in the face when you (inevitably) realize you've been deceived.
Robert/ Tom: I think you guys both are probably right to some degree. I also think most of us love the attention that aggressive guy give us. The muscles aren't bad either.
Or does it just show that narcissists are more willing to lie about the number of sex partners?
Then again, my boyfriend has had his fair share of sexual partners... sometimes, a guy who is a "bad boy" with some woman is the "good guy/settle down" type with the right woman. Sometimes those tendencies can exist in the same guy.
Maybe it's just that aggressive (sometimes a*****e) men put much more effort out there in regards to bedding women. A nice church-going-boy isn't going to be the one to use every possible scheme to get someone to sleep with him. What I mean is people looking for sex find it.
