Back in 1998 (the Internet Dark Ages), I was single again, terribly lonely, and yearning to find the love for the rest of my life. I was having absolutely no luck finding anything close to what I wanted in a mate, and frankly, had no idea how to come up with anything better. Then, I stumbled onto Match.com.
Only a few short years ago, no one was writing about Internet dating. There were no dating coaches. No one was even talking about finding love using the Internet. It’s hard to believe now, but Match.com, the first modern Internet dating site, went live in 1995. When I first ventured online in 1997, the few friends I told thought I was crazy. My mother was sure I would be murdered.
My now husband Drew and I were online dating pioneers. With no help at all, we managed to figure out how to make cyberspace work for us. But it was very scary, with plenty of room for missteps and disasters. I had a few in the process, before I met Drew. We were very lucky.
