Dear YourTango’s Prospective Senior Social Media Director & Strategist,
Welcome to our amazing team! We are excited to forge a successful partnership with you, along with the rest of the social media team at YourTango – the leading publisher focused on love and relationships, emotional wellness, and self-empowerment.
When we think of adding a new, innovative strategist and director to lead YourTango’s social media team, we are extremely excited by all that you will bring to the table – with your hands-on experience programming social accounts for media outlets and publishers, as well as your broad and deep understanding of social platform best practices, industry trends and audience consumption habits – we hope YourTango will do the same for you in terms of providing a rich, deeply rewarding experience, both personally and professionally.
YourTango specializes in publishing powerful, personal stories, expert advice, and illuminating perspectives on love, relationships, self-empowerment and emotional intelligence. We aim to help millions of people build strong, healthy, healing relationships, leading to more love, hope, and harmony in the world. While we don’t typically break the news, we do a beautiful job humanizing it.
Profitable, purpose-driven, and bucking almost every industry trend, YourTango has reached an amazing inflection point and is poised for take-off. We have succeeded in:
- Organically scaling our traffic to 23 million people per month - and growing fast! When you include our presence on MSN, SmartNews, Apple News, and our social channels, we reach over 60 million people with our compelling stories and expert advice every month!
- Pioneering a B2B membership platform called YourTango Experts that caters to healing professionals - from psychotherapists to Reiki Masters. Especially in light of the mental health exigencies facing our society, YourTango is doing the important work of supporting the healers and helpers on the front lines of this crisis.
- Building an incredible foundation (one that features a vast content archive, technical superiority, tremendous distribution, etc., around themes of vital importance and value) that is poised to have monumental value unlocked - including with video, commerce, thought leadership, increased user engagement, scaling our YTE platform, launching a series of events, developing a podcast, building significant brand awareness and so much more.
- Establishing a unique, profoundly impactful publishing brand that is making a positive impact in the world! YourTango opens readers’ hearts, builds relationships, and ignites positive change in millions of lives through compelling, actionable editorial.
- Critically, and last but not least, cultivating a team of professionals who care deeply about our work and each other. As a result, we have developed an empowering, caring culture replete with curiosity, purpose, problem-solving, appreciation, ownership, initiative, and more, where each of us regularly goes the extra mile - not because it’s mandated but because we care deeply about what we have built, our team, and how we are positively impacting the world around us. It’s profoundly gratifying to have worked with so many of these people for the better part of the decade (& some much longer!) and to consider them close friends and partners.
We have done a ton of heavy lifting to get to this point and there’s plenty more to do - which is where you come in.
This important position – which manages YourTango’s presence & performance on all social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and other emerging platforms) – requires experience in setting and executing strategy, and demonstrated success in leading a team to grow new audiences, deepen engagement and establish habitual and loyal relationships with social communities.
What we envision you may bring to YourTango:
- A curious and positive manager mindset, with a passion for challenging and inspiring our teams to craft innovative and memorable social content that meets goals, creates raving super fans, and builds connection and loyalty to our brand.
- An excitement and passion for amplifying the YourTango brand voice, mission and vision by creating compelling social content that fosters the human connection and sparks conversation.
- Data-driven decision-making – we need someone who regularly studies metrics reports to evaluate what’s working and what’s not in an effort to find new growth opportunities that drive impact.
- Your extreme obsession with identifying, understanding, and following internet culture, trends and complex news narratives - with the ability to translate these ideas into actionable social media content for people who don’t.
- Sound editorial judgment and journalistic standards as well as your strong organizational and communication skills.
- A passion for exploring and testing emerging formats and new platforms, and eagerness to expand on established social video, audio and visual formats.
