About Lisa Pisha

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, writer, group leader and parent instructor working with individuals, families, and couples strengthening relationships through some of life's challenges and transitions.  My areas of expertise include couples and marriage counseling including infidelity and sex and intimacy therapy, life transitions and challenges, postpartum, depression and anxiety, parenting and personal growth and wellness.

I have extensive training in Dr. Brené Brown’s work on shame resilience, living authentically and wholeheartedly and run groups as well as provide individual therapy on programs developed by her and based off of her bestsellers, The Daring Way™, and Rising Strong™.

I also have a special interest and extensive research working with couples and individuals experiencing the transition into parenthood, and/or dealing with postpartum and baby blues.
I hold a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University’s nationally accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Program, and am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I received post-graduate instructor training with new parent couples through the Becoming Parents Program from Seattle and The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ through Dr. Brené Brown's Daring Way™ curriculum training.

I use a practical yet warm, emotionally-focused approach and have a warm sense of humor. Watching people GROW, listening to their stories and helping them re-tell their tales in ways that promote connection and growth is the most rewarding part of my work. I’m always amazed at the strength people truly have, and the bravery and courage it takes to show up. My work is my absolute passion and I truly love what I do.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors and on the couch. I also enjoy reading historical fiction, listening to many genres of music from Led Zepplin to Dean Martin to Luke Bryan and much in between, and going out with friends and on dates with my husband. I love coffee, new books, and exploring new places. And when I have a free minute or two, I love letting my heart spill out onto the page as a writer.
