About Karl Hyden

I am a Mental Toughness Coach for Introverted Professionals, Leaders, and Business Owners.

I am a Master Level Coach and Mentor with 30 years’ experience in management, training, education, and development disciplines. I am also a Chartered Fellow in the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and member of the International Coach Federation and the Institute of Directors. In my career, I have been fortunate enough to have mentored, coached, and trained thousands of business owners, management, staff, and professionals from 32 countries. 

I am a ‘highly sensitive’ Introvert myself and I used to experience periods of huge self-doubt and plummeting self-confidence while working in organizations and being self-employed - largely because my Introverted qualities were not recognized or appreciated by me or others as having value in the same way as the qualities of my more dominant and extroverted colleagues.

I suffered for years - underutilized in support and leadership roles - always feeling like I was going against my own grain by trying to fit into a mold that was not me. Now I know better!

I tell these stories, so you can understand that I’ve struggled and faced tough times myself.  I’ve known business and personal challenges—first hand and through colleagues and clients. I know what happens when people can’t express or fulfill their needs, at work or in life. 

I’ve also learned that no matter how difficult things seem, you can find a way to change them for the better. Always.

And one of the biggest lessons I learned was that I didn't have to do it all by myself.  My own experience has shown me that the support of others can be very powerful in making change.

I think that’s what drives me today. I have a strong desire to help people overcome the challenges they are facing. I listen. I help them understand. I give them the tools they need to make those changes tools they can continue to use throughout their life.  I've got a lifetime of experience doing just that with people.

And through developing my own Mental Toughness, I've learned how to manage my thoughts, emotions, actions, and also how I can respond more beneficially to stress, dominance, and uncertainty in order to sustain positive changes in my own life.

After years of self development, research, study, and practice, I have learned how to unlock these qualities in myself. I now coach, mentor, and teach other ambitious, Introverted professionals to do the same. All while understanding and being OK with their “Introvertedness” and developing their Mental Toughness.

I equip and teach clients to use those Introvert ‘Super Power’ qualities for good and how to thrive in a world of work / business that doesn't yet appreciate the value they can add, by just being themselves.

In this work, I use a combination of Mental Toughness interventions to develop Resilience, Tenacity, Clear Thinking, Psychological Flexibility, Powerful Mindsets, and Self Confidence in my clients - to be the best version of themselves, even under pressure.

I draw from a range of disciplines and my own personal/professional experiences to help you find or create the solution that is best for you.
