About Virginia Martin

As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in working with and treating children. I have been working in private practice for over ten years and have developed a personalized and mindful practice. Previous experiences working with The Child Development Unit at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Coastal Behavioral Healthcare in Sarasota FL, Children’s National Health System in Washington DC, Matilda Theiss Child Development Center in Pittsburgh, WPIC’s Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention Program, and WPIC’s John Merck Clinic, I have benefited from training with some of the best providers in early childhood. My current practice, Mindful Behavioral Health, is devoted to work with children and parents to develop balance in their lives. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a positive and mindfulness-based approach.

Currently, my area of clinical focus and specialization is working with children and mothers with anxiety. I see anxiety and stress affecting us all as the number one mental health concern worldwide and know that includes our children. Kids need tools to understand their emotions, to develop healthy coping strategies, and to feel in control of their emotions. Parents likewise need tools to manage anxiety so that they can create balance in their parenting and support their children more fully. I specialize in psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation approaches. Integrating these techniques together is most effective in helping individuals overcome their anxiety and stress. Mindful Behavioral Health means taking the time to get to know you and your child, being careful in the selection of treatment approach, and teaching you and your child to be more aware, more in control, and more mindful of themselves. Along the way, we have fun, learn a lot, and achieve success.
