According to Lexico.com, to 'cheat' means to "act dishonest or unfair to gain an advantage".

Per the Bible, cheating on your spouse is 'adultery' but you can also cheat in other ways. The type of cheating in a relationship causes disappointment as well as heartache.

Physical cheating versus emotional cheating are two topics that can arise in many debates. Either way, they both can impact a relationship negatively.

Many factors play into why people cheat.

As stated above, the act is to gain an advantage. But in a relationship, what advantage would come from cheating on the person you love?

When in love, people tend to think the feeling is not everlasting or mutual which can cause someone to cheat or hurt the person before they get hurt.

Hurting them before they can hurt you because getting hurt can be unimaginable.

After cheating on your partner, it can leave two ground feelings: you can feel awful and won’t do it again or you can feel “fake” awful and will do it again.

But in most cases, if you forgive a cheater and take them back it could lead to a serial problem.

The trauma of getting cheated on can lead your partner to become too jealous and insecure. Wondering where your partner is at all times can lead to you not being able to live your life.

Becoming consumed with what and how a person is doing can be overwhelming. So, forgiving a cheater can be much worse than the cheating itself because the resentment will lead to destruction.

Destruction is one of the leading results after a person cheats on their partner. Their partner can become angry after the hurting fades. It could lead to violence and bitterness within the relationship.

So what’s the best solution for when you are in a relationship and want to cheat, just be honest upfront, try to fix the issues before you cheat and if that doesn’t work then leave.

I believe this means that when you are in the worst stages of being cheated on which is brokenhearted, you are not alone. The Lord is with you through all trials and tribulations.

Adultery is selfish.

We often forget that we get consumed with our own needs and wants that we go through any lengths to get them but we should never hurt people to get what we desire. Lying, stealing and deceiving is not the answer.

Adultery leads to self-inflicted pain.

Cheating is breaking your word.

When you are married, it is a sacred vow before the Lord. If you commit adultery you are breaking that vow before him because marriage is the most important commitment of all.

Adultery is one of the 10 Commandments.

Once you say “I do”, there is no way you should look into another person for love, sex or companionship. When you make a vow before God, you have to stick to it.

Cheaters lack character.

Even when you know you are doing the wrong thing and you continue to do so you are living in sin. In a relationship, cheating on your partner is something that you know is wrong but when you continue to pursue it, you are openly and knowingly sinning.

Adultery creates more problems.

When a person lies to their partner they are creating a conflict within their relationship. Creating conflict within your relationship can destroy it.

Being faithful is better than cheating.

If you do the right thing by God and your partner blessings will pour into your life. If you consume yourself with greed then you will regret it and eventually pay for it.
