
A lot of awesome results can come out of spending time in the gym—we look and feel better, we're healthier, we have more energy. Fitness classes are an awesome way to get (and stay) motivated. There's so many classes to choose from: Zumba, spinning, kickboxing, pilates, barre classes, yoga, etc — it's practically hard to find something you don't enjoy with all the options out there. And, with a certified instructor, good company, fun music and a well-planned routine, what could possibly go wrong?
We'd never knock working out regularly—in fact, we should be going to the gym a lot more often than we are, but some really embarrassing stuff can happen while we're there. Whether you're a newbie at your spin class or at the gym 24/7, there's just bound to be some awkward, WTF-just-happened moments in your workout class.
From being the only one that shows up (awkward if you aren't into up-close-and-personal fitness instruction.) to wardrobe malfunctions (This has totally happened to me while dancing my way through a Zumba class, but it can happen anytime, anywhere) to moaning (we've all sat next to moaners in yoga class, we've maybe even BEEN that moaner!), here are some of the most embarrassing moments you can expect to see at your next workout class.

1. Being the only one who showed up
Often this happens when in a moment of bravado, you take the yoga class at your vacation resort, but it's likely to happen every now and again at your traditional group fitness class if it coincides with a holiday or bad weather.
This can be a great opportunity for personal training at the "cost" of your regular class, but it also can be incredibly awkward if you aren’t into up-close-and-personal fitness instruction.

2. Om-gasm
We've all sat next to moaners in yoga class, we've maybe even BEEN that moaner. Yes, breathing through those positions may feel really good, but you don't want everyone to know just how you sound when things feel real good. Excessive moaning is one thing, but sometimes, full on yoga orgasms can happen, and you don't get much more intense a class experience than that. In the yogi state of heightened mental and physical awareness, it's not surprising this CAN happen, but if it does happen to you, try to be discreet. It may be more embarrassing than farting.

3. Falling off the treadmill
This can happen no matter how experienced you are, but when it does, it's mortifying. Next time, pay more attention, and try not to zone out – you can seriously hurt yourself, and that's no joke. But at least this time you provided entertainment value!

4. Wardrobe malfunctions
This has totally happened to me while dancing my way through a Zumba class, but it can happen anytime, anywhere. In this sort of situation, prevention really is the best solution – if you are wearing the right support and coverage (and size!), it's less likely something will rip, tear, or fall off mid-workout. But also, be diligent. Every time you do laundry, check seams and snaps, closures, zippers, and buttons. If something needs to be mended, do it before you are sorry. Of course, clothes can be in perfect condition and still have issues! The ultimate wardrobe malfunction is unintentional nakedness – and clothes CAN be stolen at the gym if you don't lock them up. Always lock your things–valuable or not. Try to keep a spare pair of workout clothes in your office or car. Just in case you have an issue, you need something to change into.

5. Farting
Be careful what you eat before yoga class, what you put in your body can lead to seriously embarrassing results come yoga class. Some of those poses really open and loosen things up – and you may find yourself farting—loud and smelly—in the middle of class. Best course of action? Just try to pretend it didn't happen. Maybe everyone won't realize you were the culprit!

6. Sweating
Obviously, we are at the gym to sweat. That's the goal—we know we're doing something right. But we can't always control how we sweat. If this happens in the butt or groin area, it can look pretty bad. Try to wear dark colors, they make sweat stains a bit less noticeable (and less transparent, at least!).

7. Naked bedfellows
It can be super fun to go to the gym with your friends, co-workers, family. But, inevitably, there'll be that moment in the locker room where someone sees someone else naked. Awkward! Try not to make eye contact, keep walking, and pretend it never happened!
